Hollywood Came to the Schoolyard


There's something magical about watching everyday people step into the spotlight—and that's exactly what happened at Thornhill Elementary School's Lights, Camera, Auction! fundraiser in Oakland.


The vision was clear from the start: bring that classic Hollywood energy to a school fundraiser. So we created a full paparazzi-style experience complete with dramatic black-and-white portraits that captured all the elegance and excitement of an Oscar night.

Red carpet? Check. ✨


Dramatic lighting? Absolutely. 📸


Parents feeling like A-list celebrities? You better believe it. 🌟


Watching parents, teachers, and supporters step into that space and own the moment? That's the magic I'm always chasing as a photographer.


My goal at events like this is simple: meet the energy that's already there—the joy, the anticipation, the community—and create imagery that feels elevated, intentional, and true to the moment.


And the energy at Thornhill? Electric.


But here's what moved me most about this night—it wasn't just the red carpet or the stunning outfits (though those were incredible).


It was witnessing a community show up with purpose.


Parents dressed to the nines, ready to invest in their children's future. Bidding with intention. Donating with heart. All to create better opportunities and brighter tomorrows for their kids.

That is true star power.


There's something deeply powerful about that kind of collective love and commitment. It's what makes a community strong. It's what makes moments like these worth capturing.


Events like Lights, Camera, Auction! remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

It's not just about beautiful images (though I'm always chasing that perfect shot). It's about capturing the heart of a moment. The connection. The purpose. The love that brings people together.
